N-Acetyl Selank Amidate is an analog of the heptapeptide Selank in which the N-terminus is acetylated and the C-terminus amidated. Capping both ends removes the charged termini that exopeptidases act on, and the modification is studied for the metabolic stability it confers on the parent sequence.
Selank itself is a synthetic analog of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The amidated analog is examined in the same cognitive-category models, characterized in the literature as the longer-acting intranasal form.

Mechanism
Research on the parent peptide describes interaction with GABAergic and serotonergic signaling and upregulation of BDNF expression in hippocampal models, alongside effects on enkephalin metabolism.
