Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the first 29 residues of growth-hormone-releasing hormone — the shortest fragment that retains full biological activity, equipotent to the full-length molecule in stimulating growth-hormone secretion.

Mechanism
Sermorelin binds the GHRH receptor on anterior-pituitary somatotroph cells, coupling primarily through Gs and adenylyl cyclase to raise cAMP, with associated MAPK signaling and calcium-facilitated vesicle fusion.
Because it stimulates natural pulsatile secretion and remains subject to somatostatin feedback, it is characterized as highly somatotroph-selective in vitro.
