Mechanism

Tesamorelin is a specific agonist of the GHRH receptor, a seven-transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptor on anterior-pituitary somatotroph cells. Activation signals through Gsα, adenylyl cyclase, cAMP, and PKA to promote secretion of stored growth hormone while preserving natural pulsatile release.

It is characterized as selective for the GHRH receptor, without engagement of the ghrelin receptor and without significant effect on other pituitary axes.
